Entering God's Rest

When does one actually need rest? Is it when you’re tired or when you decide you need rest? The bible says God rested on the seventh day after creation. Rest is a vital aspect of the human entity. Even the animals need rest from time to time.

In today’s fast paced world, where we are driven hard by all kinds of ambitions, people burn out and are unable to move and yet much needed rest eludes them. Because of harsh economic realities and the need to make ends meet, many people cannot afford to slow down let alone to rest.

I used to work in a packaging factory with a single Mum who always complained of being stressed up because of the two jobs she was working. Naturally I advised her to slow down a little so that she could devote more time to her children. She explained to me that it was impossible. I pressed further by telling her that the bible says that with God all things are possible. And that the Lord can work out things for her if only she could trust. She simply laughed at me and asked me to discontinue the conversation.

Many people are prepared to hear the solution to any issue the worldly way but not God’s way. Maybe that is why there is much chaos out there. Jesus clearly extended the invitation to the wearied and burdened to rest

11:28:  Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
